با در نظر گرفتن اصل مزيت نسبي، اولويت بندي كشت محصولات كشاورزي در مناطق مختلف مي تواند منجر به بهبود تخصيص منابع و افزايش ارزش افزوده شود. اولويت بندي كشت محصولات در يك منطقه، ميتواند كمك شاياني به بهبود شاخص هاي توسعه گردد. براي اين منظور اولويت بندي كشت زراعي در استان اردبيل از شاخص هاي كارايي مزيت EAI شاخص مقياس مزيت SAI و شاخص جمعي مزيت AAI كه بر اساس عملكرد و سطح زير كشت محصولات در استان نسبت به كل كشور محاسبه مي شود استفاده شده است. با توجه به نتايج حاصل از محاسبات كشت عدس ديم داراي مزيت نسبي بيشتر و گندم آبي داراي مزيت نسبي كمتر از متوسط كشور مي باشد. همچنين بر حسب شاخص جمعي مزيت به ترتيب محصولات عدس ديم، سيب زميني، سويا وكلزا داراي اولويت در انتخاب كشت محصولات زراعي استان هستند و ميتوان به عنوان كشت ارجح در استان معرفي نمود.
