مشكلات و مسائل زيست محيطي يكي از اساسي ترين مسائل شهرها و حاصل تعارض و تقابل آنها با محيط طبيعي است. افزايش شهرنشيني و بروز معضلات زيست محيطي در دهه هاي اخير در شهرها، توسعه پايدار شهرها را پيش روي متخصصان و صاحب نظران مسائل شهري و معماري قرار داده است. در نتيجه توسعه روزافزون و شهري شدن زندگي بشر مفاهيم مربوط به توسعه پايدار به اين حيطه وارد شده و توسعه پايدار شهر محصول نگاه هاي جديد به مفاهيم زيست محيطي نسبت به شهرها مي باشد. همگام با توجه و گرايش فزاينده جهاني نسبت به موضوع توسعه پايدار، شناخت از اين مقوله و توجه بيش تر به آن در سطح ملي نيز به شتاب روزافزون توسعه شهرنشيني در كشور فزوني يافته و اقداماتي در تحقق توسعه پايدار شهري نيز به عمل آمده است. اين مقاله با مروري بر مطالعات سابق به صورت عام، به شناسايي شاخص هاي زيست محيطي و توصيف ارزيابي توسعه پايدار محيط هاي شهري و طرح كلي از شاخص هاي زيست محيطي در شهر هاي پايدار و نظام مديريت آنها را پيشنهاد مي دهد.

As a result of the ever-expanding urbanization of human life, sustainable development concepts have entered into this area and sustainable development of the city has yielded new insights into environmental concepts of cities. Along with a growing global focus on the issue of sustainable development, the recognition of this category and its increasing attention at the national level have also increased the acceleration of urban development in the country, and efforts have been made to realize sustainable urban development. . This paper, with a review of previous studies in general, identifies environmental indicators and describes the assessment of sustainable development of urban environments and the overall design of environmental indicators in sustainable cities and their management system.
