هنر نگارگري كه با ورود حكومت هاي اسلامي به ايران شكل گرفت، شكل تازه اي از نقاشي در كنار نثرها و نظم هاي ادبي بود كه در صفحات كتاب ها و نسخ خطي مشاهده مي شد. اين شكل از نقاشي ايراني ريشه در نقوش سفالينه هاي قديمي، جام هاي زرين، كاشي هاي هخامنشي، گچ بري هاي اشكاني و ديوارنگاره هاي ساسانيان دارد. اين هنر در دوره مغول و از قرن هفتم هجري به بعد، به پيشرفت زيادي دست پيدا مي كند. بدين سبب كه دربار ايران از اين زمان هنر را مورد حمايت خود قرار داده و هنرمندان صاحب مرتبت مي شوند. از مظاهر رواج هنر در اين دوره، ظاهر شدن تاريخ نگاري هنر و توجه مورخان به هنر و هنرمندان است.در اين دوره شاهد پيشرفت هنر نگارگري در اشكال گوناگون مي باشيم. همانند ظهور احساس و حالت در چهره، تنوع در سرپوش ها، پيشرفت در جزئيات و تزئينات و ظرافتكاري و غناي رنگ كه بسيار جالب توجه مي باشد.

The art of painting, was a new form of painting alongside prose and literary order which was formed by the arrival of Islamic regimes in Iran and It was seen in the pages of books and manuscripts. This form of Iranian painting is rooted in ancient pottery paintings, golden cups, Achaemenid tiles, parchian gypsum and Sassanid wall paintings. This art achieves much progress in the Mongol period from the seventh century AH. The artist became the owner of the art in this period time because, the court in Iran backed the art. The appearance of historic art and the attention of historians to art and artists represent the prevalence of art in this period. In this period, we are witnessing the progress of the art of painting in various forms such as: the appearance of feeling and facial expressions, variations in caps, progress in detail, ornamentation and elegance and richness of color, which are very interesting.
