Walking, for exercise or as an alternative mode of transportation, is encouraged in today’s society because provides health benefits to those who engage in it and also decreases the use of vehicles. The latest WHO global status report on road safety 2015, shows that low and middle-income countries have the worst situation, with the fatality rates two times higher than high-income countries and 90% of global road traffic deaths (WHO, 2015). Vulnerable road users including pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists comprise half of these fatalities. In this paper we tried to investigate major risk factors may cause fatal pedestrian crashes all around the world and then focus on common widespread in middle-income countries to find out possible solution to stopover increasing rate of disastrous crashes.
