چكيده فارسي :
Hungary has gone through great political changes in the 1970-80s. The gradually increasing economic crisis triggered a change in the Hungarian political leadership, partly in the form of the relationship to the western world, and in the credits and loans taking out from the financial markets. This had an effect on the communication towards the Western world, as well. Western products appeared in Hungary and the bureaucratic steps in relation to travelling abroad decreased. Thus the inbound and outbound traveling became much easier. They had an effect on sport relations as well; participation of Hungarian athletes at insignificant events became more frequent which had been earlier limited only to the Olympic Games, World- and European Championships. The organizing of the 1980 Olympics in Moscow did not cause any problem, but the one of the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles was a great challenge to the Hungarian sports leadership who were still thinking in a Communist way. This lecture analyses and presents the economic, social and sport political changes of Hungary, which earlier resulted in the boycott of the Los Angeles Games, but which within some years resulted in the complete political change of regime in 1989.
