Social Factors Influencing Leisure Time Of Housewives In Tehran

Leisure time is influenced by several factors such as social status and personal life style. How to spend leisure time has a reflection on social, economic and cultural aspects of a society and if we know how to use this leisure time, it can undoubtedly lead to a higher standard of social life and boost the financial status of the members of the society. The aim of the following research was to study the effective social factors related to the leisure time of housewives in Tehran. The study was based on a random selection of 383 people living in the north, south, west, east and center of Tehran. The data mining has been analyzed by SPSS software. The results indicated that the average efficient leisure time of housewives in Tehran is more than their average inefficient leisure time. The results also implied that factors such as the place of residence, income, number of children, education, employment and the age can have significant impact on people’s leisure time. Among the variables in the regression model, the age variation with a beta coefficient of -0.35 was defined as the most dependent variable (Leisure time). However, it was also considered that age also has an adverse effect on leisure time. This means that people tend to spend more time on leisure activities when they are young, and by aging, the amount of leisure time reduces. It is highly recommended that the ways of spending leisure time circulate through the media and educate especially the people who do not have access to many facilities. Thus the best policy in any society is for the authorities to adopt the above mentioned procedures and approaches to strengthen the family foundation which can be effective in achieving the best possible leisure time for individuals who come from any family background.
