It is an established fact that in the information age education and media have a significant role in the transmission of cultural concepts among and across nations. Likewise, economic development and human cognition are heavily influenced by the media today. The media contributes to communication, monitors and influences profound changes in economic, cultural and political institutions, and helps the transformation of beliefs and values. As such, people depend upon the media as a means of fostering their social life and health; they require the most reliable and sufficient sources of knowledge. Therefore, considering the fact that media is hardly a neutral means of communication, it is essential to study media and communication from the perspective of sport tourism. In this study we will discuss the role of media in creating advertising strategies for the economic development of sport tourism.
