Physical activity has a close relationship with different physical and psychological benefits that affect on self-esteem. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship of physical activity rate, body image, body mass index and eating disorder with self-esteem in adolescent females. 264 female adolescents (age ranging from 14 to 18) of the city of Tabriz completed several questionnaires including youth physical activity, silhouette body image, eat-26 and Rosenberg s Self-Esteem. Data was analyzed by Pearson correlation coefficient and regression.
Results showed a significant relationship between self-esteem and physical activity; between self-esteem and body image; between BMI and self-esteem and eating attitude and self-esteem. Also, regression analysis showed that eating attitude, BMI and physical activity could predict self-esteem in adolescent females.
