طراحي داخلي به معناي برنامه‌ريزي و چيدمان فضاهاي داخلي در ساختمان است. اين فضاهاي فيزيكي نياز ابتدايي ما را به سرپناه و امنيت رفع نموده، فعاليت ها را سازماندهي كرده، بر شكل آن‌ها اثر گذاشته و به پرورش آرزوها، بيان ايده‌هاي هماهنگ با فعاليت‌ها و رفتار و شخصيت ما مي‌پردازند. از اين رو، هدف معماري داخلي بهبود عملكردي، تقويت زيبايي شناختي و افزايش كيفيت روان شناسانه ي زندگي در فضاهاي داخلي است. هر بنايي به عنوان جزئي از فرهنگ وظيفه عينيت بخشيدن يك انديشه ذهني را از طريق فرم ظاهري خود دارد. البته توجه به اين نكته نيز حائز اهميت مي‌باشد كه نقش فرهنگ در شكل‌گيري تمام فضاهاي معماري يكسان نبوده بلكه در سازمان‌يابي فضاهاي فرهنگي، آييني و عمومي بيشتر نمايانگر است. از اين رو مقاله حاضر با هدف توجه به تاثير غيرقابل انكار فرهنگ بر معماري و ارتباط تنگاتنگ اين دو موضوع پرداخته است وبيان‌گر اين مطلب است كه معماري مي‌تواند آرامش را در زندگي انسان‌ها القا كند.
