از رحم تا گور، كه انسان زندگي خود را آغاز و به پايان مي‌برد پيوسته خود را در فضاهاي داخلي مي‌يابد، بخش اعظم عمر ما، در فضاهاي داخلي بناها سپري مي‌شود كه به كمك ساختارها و جداره‌ها شكل گرفته‌اند. اين فضاها محيطي را ايجاد مي‌كنند كه بسياري از فعاليت‌هاي ما در آن صورت مي‌گيرد، كما اينكه آنچه به بنا روح مي‌بخشد هم، فضاي داخل آن است. امروزه رنگ و نور دو عنصر مهم و جداناپذير از هم در معماري داخلي محسوب مي‌شوند كه شناخت آنها و نحوه تاثيرگذاريشان در معماري داخلي به معماران كمك مي‌كند تا طراحي‌هاي مناسب بر اساس كاربري فضاها انجام دهند. جهانيكه انسان در آن زندگي مي‌كند متشكل از هزاران عنصر ديگر است كه همه آنها تحت تاثير رنگ و نور جذابتر، معنوي تر، عميق تر و حتي زشت تر به نظر مي‌آيند و اين بر سلامت روح و روان انسان تاثير مي‌گذارد. در كيفيت بخشي به فضاهاي معماري رنگ و نور دو فاكتور اصلي هستند كه فضا‌هاي آموزشي نيز از اين قائده مستثني نيستند. آنچه در باب معماري فضاهاي آموزشي امروزي مطرح است، نشان دهنده اين است كه فضاي آموزشي صرفا محيطي براي آموزش نيست بلكه بايد محيطي براي پرورش‌ و آرامش بخشيدن به مراجعه كنندگان و دوستداران آموزش باشد، كه مي‌توان به مدد اين نگرش و با تأثير پذيري از طبيعت در به كار گيري رنگ و نور به معماري فضا‌هاي آموزشي به عنوان يكى از بناهايى كه در ابتدا در قصرها، معابد، مساجد و كليساها تجلى يافتند، رنگ و بويي خاص بخشيد. هدف اين نوشتار رسيدن به چهارچوبي نظري به منظور پاسخگويي به اين مسئله است كه چگونه مي‌توان با شناخت خصوصيات و نحوه تاثير گذاري رنگ و نور بر هر يك از بخشهاي فضاهاي آموزشي عملكرد آنها را به ميزان چشم گيري افزايش داد. اساس اين پژوهش بر مبناي روش كتابخانه‌اي و اسناد و مدارك موجود جمع‌اوري گرديده است.
