In this paper a new strategy for damage detection of trusses under static loads is presented. Damage detection is an inverse problem in which the damage parameters of the structure should be determined in such a way that the response of analytical model equalizes the measured one in an optimal way. To this aim, Vector of Response Change (VRC) and response change with respect to elemental damage parameters which are here referred to as Vector of Response Sensitivity of the Elements (VRSE) are utilized. A space structure as a numerical example is considered and the results illustrate that the method is robust and efficient for damage detection of structure.
