With increasing volume of air traveling and continuous advancements in the technology in this industry, and due to the importance of safe flying, the need to ensure the safety of various parts of aircrafts is highly sought after. Particularly in experimental mechanics, new technologies have led to advances in testing of equipment and techniques in this industry. Among these new methods, one can mention the new eddy current, thermography, sheareography, radiography, laser ultrasonic techniques, etc.
In this paper, attempts are made to address a number of applications of these new methods of non-destructive testing (NDT) in the aerospace industry and the researches carried out in this industry in recent years. Some applications of these methods are the evaluation of composite structures, corrosion, impacts, and so on. Finally, discussions are made on the perspective of possible future applications these methods could possess.
