Polymeric nanocomposites (NCs) have been intensely investigated dueto the performance improvement achieved when a small amount of NPsare added to a polymer matrix. The remarkable changeon theproperties of polymers due to the addition of inorganic nanoparticles (NPs) is explained by the huge surface area, which increases the interaction between the NPs and the polymer matrix. In this study surface modification of CuO NPs was performed by thiamin (vitamin B1) as a biocompatible modifier to prevent agglomeration and enhance the dispersibility in organic solvents [1]. The process was accomplished under ultrasonic method as a fast and green way [2]. In this project, poly(vinyl chloride)/CuO-VB1 NCs films were successfully fabricated. For this purpose different amount of modified NPs content (3, 5, 7 wt. %) incorporated to PVC (figure 1).The properties of the NCs were studied by FT-IR, XRD, UV–Vis, FE-SEM, TEM, Mechanical test and TGA techniques.
