The research in multi-component reactions (MCRs) is a hot topic of organic chemistry
because of their advantageous in the preparation of different heterocyclic molecules and in
drug discoveryprocedures[1]. Although MCRs are efficient, environmentallyfriendly, fast,
atom economic and time saving style. They supplyan effective tool for the preparation of
various compounds withpharmaceutical and biological properties[2]. One type of
thesereactions is the synthesis of pyrazolones which display biologicaland pharmacological
properties.In order to develop a new method for the synthesis of Pyrazolones, we report here
4-sulfophthalic acid assisted synthesis of Pyrazolones, from the condensation of phenyl
hydrazines, ethyl acetoacetate ,β-naphthol and benzaldehydes in water as solvent at in reflux
condition.
