Heterocyclic compounds especially, nitrogen containing heterocycles are important natural
and synthetic materials. Among them, the benzo[g]quinoline-5,10-dione derivatives exhibits
excellent biological activities in pharmaceuticals. Some structures of naturally occurring
benzo[g]quinoline-5,10-dione skeletonsare Cleistopholine(antimicrobial and anticancer),
Phomazarin(cytotoxic), Jadomycins(antibacterial, anti-tumor, antiviral, cytotoxic, and
Aurora-B kinase inhibitory activities)[1,2]. This work represents a successful synthesis of a
new class of benzo[g]Imidazo[1,2-a]quinolinedione derivatives via four components reaction
between 1,1- bis(methylthio)-2-nitroethylene, ethylene diamine, 2-hydroxy-1,4-
naphthoquinone and aromatic aldehydes (Figure 1). This reaction proceeded without any
catalyst. The ready availability of the startingmaterials, good yields of the products and the
reaction‘s simplicity of the process are theother advantages of this method. All structures
were confirmed by IR, MS, 1H- and 13C-NMR Spectra.
