Schiff base metal complexes are in a field of coordinationchemistry with increasing interest. These compounds haveplayed a major role in the development of the inorganiccoordination chemistry due to easily preparation, diversity ofstructures, and providing the effects of steric interactions oncoordination geometries [1].In recent years, the Schiff base complexes have been found as oneimportant group of the coordination compounds dueto their valuable biochemical, analytical and antimicrobial properties. Moreover in organic methodology, Schiff base complexes have key role in catalysis of a variety of organic reactions such as metathesis process, reductive carbonylation, polymerization, decarboxylation and oxidation [2]. The study of nano structure compounds is an extremely popular field because of their unique properties that are absolutely different with respect to them in bulkphase that is related to the large numbers of surface molecules. Choosing the proper synthetic process is an important factor incontrol of the size of materials at the sub micrometer scale so thatselecting a proper method is a serious step in nanotechnology field [3].
In this research we report the synthesis, physical and spectral characterization, and thermal investigation of a new ligand and their complexes with generalformula CdLX2in which X=Cl-,Br-,I-, SCN- and N3-and L=N,N-bis[(E)-3-(phenylprop)-2-enylidene]hexanediamine. The nano-structure cadmium complexes were also prepared under ultrasonic irradiation and were characterized by various analyses such as FT-IR, UV–visible,1H and13C NMR spectra, XRD, SEM and TEM.
