Nitrite functionalized star-like three-dimensional nano structure was synthesized and used
as a highly efficient nitrosonium source and catalyst for nitrosation of active aromatic
compounds such as 2-naphthol, 1-naphthol, hydroquinone, meta cresol, resorcinol, phenol,
catechol and N,N-diethyl aniline at 0 °C and in short reaction time in excellent yields. Nitrite
functionalized star-like three-dimensional nano structure plays dual roles as star-like threedimensional
nitrosonium source and catalyst because of its poly ionic characteristic. The
catalyst can be easily recovered and reused without any change in its catalytic activity.
