One-pot synthesis of substituted hydantoins using triphenylphosphine, α-bromo¬ketones and parabanic acid derivative

Wittig reactions are often used for the synthesis of acyclic and cyclic alkenes [1-3].We report One-Pot , and efficient condensation reactions oftriphenylphosphine, α-bromoketones and N,N -diphenylparabanicacid in the presence of triethylaminein xylene reflux that led to new substituted hydantoins.The reactions afford to the corresponding products in good to high yields. Satisfactory yields of products, as well as a simple procedure, isolation and purification of the products make it a useful protocol for this synthesis. The structures of the synthesized compounds were characterized by 1H, 13CNMR and IR spectroscopy as well as mass spectrometry.
