In this research cobaltnanoparticles of average diameter (30 -70) nm and nickel nanoparticles average diameter (30 -50) nm by thermal decomposition.[Bis (salicylidene) cobalt(II)] and [Bis (salicylidene) nickel (II)] were used as precursor. Metal particles smaller than100nmprimary particle diameter are generally considerd as nanoparticles. Such metal nanoparticles often exhibit very interesting electronic,magnetic, optical, and chemical properties. For example, their high surface-to-volume rations have large fractions of metal atoms at surface availablefor catalysis. The different combinations of triphenyl phosphine (C18H15P) and oleylamine (C18H37N) were added as surfactants to control the particle size. The resultant samples are characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) to depict the decreased of size and morphology.
