6-Aminouracil derivatives represent very important classes of functionalized uracils. Moreover, 6-amino-uracils find wide applicationsas starting materials for the synthesis of a number of fuseduracils of biological significance, for example, pyrano-, pyrido-,pyrazolo-, pyrimido-, pyridazino-pyrimidines [1]. Uracil derivatives, which have pyrimidine-like structure (uracil = pyrimidine-2,4-dione), have also an elegance role in heterocyclic chemistry. They have aroused much interest owing to their potential applications in medicine and photobiology. Pyrimidine dyes in some cases prepared from 6-aminouracils have found industrial applications in hypnotic drugs, in living cells, in detecting cancer and having pharmacological and biological activities[2].In continues of our interest on chemistry of 6- aminouracils and as a part of our previous research programs on the preparation of biologically potentially importance heterocycles [3], herein, we wish to report a simple and fast procedure for the synthesis of new 6-amino-5-(3,4-dioxo-3,4-dihydronaphthalen-1- yl)uracil derivatives 3via reaction of 1,2-Naphthoquinone 1 with 6-aminouracils 2 in DMSO at 70 oC (Figure 1). The reactions were completed within 2-3 hours, affording the corresponding products 3 in good to excellent yields. The structure of these new compounds were undoubtedly characterized by IR, Mass, 1H and 13CNMR Spectra.
