A calixarene is a macrocycle or cyclic oligomer based on a hydroxy alkylation product of a phenol and an aldehyde [1]. Calixarenes have hydrophobic cavities that can hold smaller molecules or ions and Calixarenes in general, and more specifically calix[4]arenes have been extensively used as host-guest chemistry [2]. In this project of obtained molecule, the aim is synthesis of 5, 11, 17, 23-tetra phenyl -2, 4-dimethyl sulfamoyl Calix[4]arene and antibacterial study. For this mean, the effect of sulfonamide unit will be examined on anti-bacterial behavior of target molecule. 5,11,17,23-tetra phenyl-2,4-dimethyl sulfamoyl Calix[4]arene were synthesized from 5,11,17,23-tetra chlorosulfonyl calix[4]arene with 2,4-dimethyl aniline. For synthesis of 5, 11, 17, 23-tetra chlorosulfonyl calix[4]arene, 5, 11, 17, 23-tetra tert-butyl-calix[4]arene via direct chlorosulfonation by chlorosulfonic acid at the upper rim functionalized [3,14]. Obtained molecules have been characterized by 1H NMR and IR.
