Regarding that increase in power generation is the main objective of the power plant construction, in this investigation a new CHP system using stirling engine in conjunction with Turbo expander has been proposed to expand, depressurize and recover energy from pipeline high pressure natural gas to proper pressure as Gas turbine fuel. Then pressure reduction station of power plant in Shahid-Hasheminezhad Refinery near to Khangiran town, Iran, selected and this CHP system based on Turbo expander, integrates with Stirling Engine to produce more power using Turbo expander cooling and heat rejected from Gas turbine as main power cycle. Thermodynamic model of proposed Stirling Engine Integrated CHP (SEI-CHP) System has been studied by means of commercial software “Engineering Equation Solver” (EES) code. Calculations shows that SEI-CHP System can produce more than 4MW heat and power with mechanical power efficiency more than 13% and neither any decrease in power production of Turbo expander and Gas turbine nor burns any extra fuel. Due to the advantages of the Stirling engine and Turbo expander based CHP system, it can be concluded the new SEI-CHP system is beneficent and feasible.
