Ag/CdS nanocomposite is an readily available, recyclable, and non-toxic catalyst used for the extremely efficient synthesis of novel 8-aryl-8H-[1,3]dioxolo[4,5-g]chromrne-6-carboxylic acids via the cyclocondensation reaction of arylmethylidenepyruvic acids with 3,4-methylenedioxyphenol in aqueous media at room temperature. This reaction offers several merits such as short reaction times (2-4 h), high yields of products (90-97%), and green aspects by avoiding toxic catalysts and hazardous solvents.
