Nanocomposite and hydrogels are very suitable due to properties such as unique structure, reasonable prices, available in different adsorbent forms, ease of use, reusability and high mechanical and chemical resistance, for recovery and removal of metal cations. In this study, the adsorbent via free radical polymerization, nanocomposite carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) -itaconic acid (IA), maleic acid (MA)- bentonite was used to remove copper (Cu+2) from aqueous solution. The adsorption process of synthetic nanocomposit showed that the maximum adsorption capacity (5.12mg/g) was obtained at pH 5.5 and also after 120 minutes adsorption capacity reach to an equilibrium. Uptake kinetics fitted with a pseudofirst- order, pseudo-second order and ellovich, that the adsorption kinetic was found to follow Pseudo-secondorder kinetic model with R2 = 0.9999. The results showed that CMC-g-poly(IA-co-MA)/bentonite can be used as promising adsorbent for the synthetic copper removal from wastewater.
