Literature has stabilized its status in language pedagogy recently. They help the learners and facilitate the process of learning. The ways genres of literature can be modified and manipulated in classrooms as teaching aids have made real life and authentic learning more tangible. Such new views of learning have no room in teaching EFL in our classrooms especially in Ilam schools. Ilami students poor command of the English language in Ilam from both Career viewpoint and that of academic is a matter of concern in and around the education system. For this reason, the researcher has done an experimental research to show the impact of literature genres (short story vs. drama) methodology of EFL with regard to gender on Iranian high school students` performance on summative achievement tests.
