This paper presents a simple method of extrusion die design and optimization for a upvc window profile of complex geometry used in production of sliding window frame. A major challenge in profile extrusion die design is flow balancing and uniform mean velocity at the die exit as an unbalanced flow causes distortion of the profile. This is especially true for complicated profile dies with uneven thicknesses in certain sections of the die [1]. The die optimisation was based on exit flow velocity at variouse sections according to rheological properties and shear thinning behavior of the polymer and die geometrical design and parameters.
