Equal channel angular swaging (ECAS) is a new severe plastic deformation (SPD) method which is based on combination of ECAP and incremental metal forming process of rotary swaging. In this article deformation behavior of a 10 mm diameter Al 6061-T6 bar under ECAS has been considered by means of numerical simulations and experimental investigations. The results revealed that the radial and axial forces obtained by FE simulations are underestimated and overestimated respectively in comparison with the derivatives from analytical formulas. According to the workpiece deformation that is a combination of bending and shear, these deviations could be related to reduction of the friction force which pulls the workpiece into the channel.
