Investigation of Head-On Crash for Two Passenger Vehicles by FEM Simulation

There are many severe and fatal crashes that result from vehicles colliding with another vehicle as head-on. Crash analysis or crash simulation is a procedure that is done to verify the crashworthiness of a vehicle. This is usually done to investigate the safety of a vehicle, i.e. to check the structural integrity of the vehicle by using a computer software that has an essential tool for shortening automobile development time and lowering costs. The objective of this work is to simulate head-on crash test of two vehicles. The model used here consists of two Dodge Neon passenger vehicles. The software used for the simulation is RADIOSS. The acceleration, contact force and deformed energy of the vehicle are traced.
