Tasting a Colorscape of Urban spaces in light and shadow Amir Chakhmaq Square (Iran, Yazd), Naghsh e-Jahan Square (Iran, Isfahan), Shah e-Cherag Shrine (Iran, Shiraz), Gholestan Garden-Palace (Iran, Tehran)

Th is research is about perception of color-scape in four Iranian urban spaces) historical and contemporary) from 10am to 7pm (light and shadow) in summer. Tourists were asked about their color-scape perception instead of locals, due to their first encounter, without any background normally, which makes less interfere factor. Gifford (Environmental psychologist) believed that by asking about the five senses of individual (visitors) in any scape the perception would be acquired. And this is a simplest way to find out the individual environment perception. Th e result indicates the rate of good or bad sense of the scape. A sense of taste, which is one of five (see, hear, touch, smell, taste), was discussed in this inquiry to show how blue as a dominant color-scape of Iranian urban spaces make sense. Th e result indicates salty and sweet color-scape which most tourists believed that this chromatic physiognomy makes them happy. In other words, they believe these two tastes make them fresh. So, future color-scape for urban space will be welcomed due to salty/sweet color pallet and the old habitat could be a best sample of a good taste scape. Th is harmonic color-scape is like an intermediate to show the richness of the light which its direct observation is not possible.
