One of the liveliest ongoing debates concerning research on translation is the issue of semiotranslation. The focus of this study was the investigation of how semiotic knowledge was related to the translation of satire. It incorporated the findings of a both qualitative and quantitative analysis procedure. It was conducted to investigate semiotics/translation practices and examine the impact of semiotic knowledge of translators on the quality of a translation. The information presented here was based on the inspection of some translations of Gulliver’s Travels, a Voyage to Lilliput, Chapter VII. The study collated different translations from semiological aspect and related them to the establishment of proper translation. Thirty-seven students participated in quantitative part of this study by completing questionnaires asking the quality of translations and ranking them. The study was also done qualitatively with special reference to the semiotics of Pierce. The findings confirm striking effects.
