In an effort to distinguish between a conductor and dielectric object, a novel method is proposed. The linear sampling method acts as main method in this procedure. According to the object s retrieved shape by linear sampling method, the procedure suggested is to ascertain whether the object under investigation is conductor or dielectric. The suggested procedure is tested for different shapes, various size and several values εr and σ .It is shown that the method is capable to distinguish conductor scatterers from dielectric scatterers. The procedure is quite effective even for dissipative objects. A novel decision making index called RMS difference is proposed. The value of RMS difference reveals that the object is conductor or dielectric. Finally, a criterion is suggested as a threshold for decisionmaking. The analytical results conclusively validated the numerical results.
