In this paper, we study the regular interaction of wave with graphite for TM/TE polarization, and compare the results with multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) photonic crystal (PhC). Due to the anisotropic behavior of graphite, two different dielectric constants are used for the polarized light which is parallel or perpendicular to the graphite sheet in a wide wavelength rang (UV and visible). For TM polarization, the incident light sees only the perpendicular permittivity component to the graphite plane, whereas for TE polarization, both perpendicular and parallel permittivity components are involved in the optical response. We use the multiple Drude-Lorentz model for simulating these two permittivities. The reflection coefficient consists of two parts: the first part is related to the metallic behavior of graphite, while the second part is related to the case that making air slots inside the graphite causes the response related to the geometry and arrangement of structure (Bragg reflection) to appear. This makes it possible to use graphite as an air slot PhC.
