Compressed air is one of the important utilities in gas refineries and wherever pneumatic systems are installed. In this paper a framework for identification, analysis, and rectifying the surge cause of a three-stage air compressor is presented. The algorithm is based on three essential steps. Firstly, the compressor usage, specification and surge problem which is occurred frequently, are introduced. Secondly, the minimum requirements and steps for surge cause detection and analysis are discussed. Finally, possible solutions for rectifying the problem in different detected scenarios are gathered. The project progress till now shows improving effects on compressor performance and also in reducing time of fault detection and rectifying.
