How chemometrics helps researchers to flourish their projects in different disciplines such as chemistry, pharmacy and mechanical engineering

Chemometrics utilizes mathematics, statistics and computer sciences to solve chemical problems, while, it is also a promising method in helping other scientific disciplines. Although not enough known, the power of chemometrics methods in improving the results of other scientific problems suggests that each university would need at least one chemometrician. I always wonder why some universities in Iran are not eager enough to use these scientists. The reason might be that researchers are not able enough to show their abilities of team work, while they could bridge the gap between different branches and chemometrics easily. Here, there are two main goals; the first one is to represent successful applications of chemometric methods to analyze the data in the field of chemistry (analytical, organic, inorganic and physical); biomedical sciences, pharmaceutical sciences, material science and mechanical engineering. The applied methods were experimental design, multivariate hard modelling, multivariate calibration, and artificial neural networks [1]. The second goal, which is my first priority in research, is how to create four-way and five- way data using spectrophotometric method which is far cheaper than hyphenated instrument such as HPLC-DAD, MS-MS and so on. The main focus is on the spectrophotometric monitoring of photo-cathalytic reactions for elimination of environmental toxic pollutants. Photo-catalytic reactions are kinetic processes and when toxic contaminations have acid-base property, for each sample it is possible to create a third-order data. Next, by tackling this kind of data in the sample mode, four-way data with be constructed. Finally, it will be shown how utilizing the genuine muti-way methods such as PARAFAC [2] and PARALIND can allow us to explore the chemical systems and also to quantify the analytes even in the presence of unknown interferences.
