The electrochemical behavior of tizanidine drug, a centrally active skeletal muscle, has been investigated in EtOH/water media at the modified glassy carbon electrode [1], using glassy carbon/CoAlO4 nanoparticle modified electrode. Cyclic voltammetry at different pH values and controlled potential coulometry have permitted identification of the oxidation properties of tizanidine [2]. The cyclic voltammetry results shows two anodic oxidation wave in the 0.80 V and 1.18 V that the first appears as a prewave, and a reduction wave at 0.75 V vs. Ag/AgCl reference electrode The results indicate that the modification of electrode does not change the oxidation or reduction potentials of tizanidine whereas cause increasing in current of tizanidine voltammogram. The increasing of 5.2 µA of anodic current on GC to 17.1 µA on modified CG for tizanidine 3mM, scan rate 100 mV/s, shows a 3.3 order amplification of current so that the limit of detection of the obtained calibration curve reaches to 3.3x10-6 M. Controlled potential coulometry shows that with the parallel to progressing of electrolysis, the height of oxidation peak reduces but the reduction peak does not change.
