In this work, in the first step phenol-formaldehyde resin was prepared by polymerization reaction of phenol and formaldehyde in alkali solution [1]. In the second step (PF)/SnO2 nanocomposites (NC)s were fabricated by using of surface modified SnO2 nanoparticles (NP)s by polydopamine and prepared PF in sonochemical assisted synthesis. At the last step the thermal curing process was achieved to obtain the nanocomposites with different nano contents. The morphology and structure of PF/SnO2 NCs were characterized by using fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), and thermogravimetric analyses (TGA). It was found that due to the good dispersion of surface modified NPs in polymer matrix and the strong interfacial interaction between the SnO2 NPs and PF matrix, the thermal stability and thermo-mechanical properties of the PF/SnO2 NCs were greatly enhanced [2].
