There is odor and taste problem in drinking water around the world. Smell and taste of water, the early signs are safety and acceptability of drinking water. Water treatment processes, breaks microalgae cells and thus, the amount of intracellular metabolites are released [1]. Semi-volatile compounds cause an unpleasant odor and taste in water. The threshold concentration of geosmin and 2-methyl isoborneol to humans in the trace range has been reported [2]. Therefore, the powerful preconcentration methods is needed that trace concentrations is detected. In this paper, for the first time liquid phase microextraction with oil droplets combined with GC-FID for microalgae toxins will be presented. The present work provides the opportunity to determine the presence or absence and even the exact amount of these compounds in water samples. The effects of various experimental parameters such as the type and volume of extraction solvent, ionic strength, temperature and time were investigated. Limit of detection was 1.15-3.77 microgram per liter, relative standard deviation was 3.48-3.87%, and recovery was from 94-97%.
