A promising electrochemical sensor based on CoFe2O4 nanoparticles modified glassy carbon electrode (CF/GCE) was developed for electrochemical determination of methyldopa (MD) in the presence of uric acid (UA) [1]. Cobalt ferrite nanoparticles were synthesized via chemical method. Characterizing the CoFe2O4 was investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and cyclic voltammetry techniques. Under the optimal experimental conditions, the current response of the electrochemical sensor obtained with differential pulse voltammetry was increased linearly in the range from 0.94 to 3.4 and 3.4 to 12.7 µmol L−1 and 1.9 to 4.2 and 4.2 to 18.6 µmol L−1 with the detection limit of 0.29 µmol L−1 and 0.29 µmol L−1 respectively for methyldopa and uric acid [2]. By using the proposed method methyldopa and uric acid could be analysied in a mixture independently. The difference of peack potential for analytes is about 150 mV. The present electrode was successfully applied for the determination of MDOP and UA in biological fluids with satisfactory results.
