In recent years, environmental contamination by synthetic dyes is a serious problem due to their negative ecotoxicological effects and bioaccumulation in wildlife [1,2]. Crystal violet (CV), a synthetic basic cationic dye imparts violet color in aqueous solution. The cationic dyes are more toxic than the anionic dyes [3]. This work focuses on the synthesis of PVC (polyvinyl chloride)/ PPY (poly pyrrole) composite by in situ chemical oxidative polymerization of pyrrole monomer in presence of PVC. PVC, a synthetic resin made from the polymerization of Vinyl Chloride. Poly Pyrrole is a special class of organic polymer with extended conjugation along the polymer chain. The synthesized composites were characterized by FT-IR, X-RAY Diffraction and SEM. PVC/PPY was used for fast and effective removal of Crystal Violet from aqueous solutions. The various parameters, affecting on adsorption process, were examined including pH, and temperature of dye solution, dose of adsorbent, and contact time. According to the obtained results, the optimum pH, at which the maximum removal about 98% occurred, was 10. The optimum contact time fixed at 45 minutes. Then, kinetics and thermodynamic parameters of adsorption were calculated. The obtained data were fit into different kinetic models and the adsorption was found to follow pseudo second order kinetic model. PVC/PPY was found to have excellent adsorption capacity (1428.57 Mg/gr). Freundlich and Langmuir isotherm models were used to test the equilibrium data. The best fitting isotherm models was found to be Langmuir.
