This paper introduces a designing methodology for a novel multiband reconfigurable antenna, for wireless power transmission applications. Multiband designs are suitable for wireless power transmission due to energy harvesting in all their operation bands. Since there is a tradeoff between the size of the antenna and its resonance frequencies, the importance of problem appears when the size reduction and several operation frequencies are needed, simultaneously. The new multiband reconfigurable antenna in this paper has the maximum directivity of 8.98, 12.51 and 9.45 dB in 1.80, 3.51 and 5.20 GHz, respectively. Some characteristics of the proposed reconfigurable antenna such as proper size, several standard operation frequency bands and high directivity in all its operation frequencies, has made it to be a superior over other design methods. Some switches are inserted on the slots of the proposed patch antenna for achieving the reconfigurable characteristics. By changing the state of the switches to ON or OFF, the resonance frequency of the antenna can be changed dynamically.
