Background: People with type 1 diabetes are needed to use insulin to compensate for the lack of beta cell function. Flexible intensive insulin therapy is usually advised for type 1 diabetes management. Self-management is crucial to reaching flexible insulin therapy. Mobile phones and Bluetooth can promote self-care, self-monitoring of blood glucose and improve the quality of diabetic patients life. Applying mobile health technology offers quick feedback to the patients of their condition. They are more empowered and have significantly more control on their particular condition. Health professionals can be also informed about patients situation in real time. Objectives: In this study, there clearly was an effort to present applying smartphone based application to handle diabetes issues to enhance their self-care. Methods: This study is performed with the overview form by the use of library style and the advanced internet search of the scientific article in database like PUBMED, MAGIRAN, SCIENCE DIRECT that their full text is accessible. Results: In this approach, after measuring the blood glucose by a glucose meter, the results can be blue-toothed directly to the application on the patients smart phone. The application can analyze the results and send them to websites that health practitioners have access so they obtain the results in real time. Therefore insulin dose adjustment is carried out with greater accuracy. With this app, no further need to hand-writing notes of glucose levels so it can avoid the incidence of errors caused by manual notes. Diabetic complications may be more easily prevented by alerting health professionals immediately. A smart phone based diabetic applications are used in Australia to help diabetes sufferers. Conclusions: As studies display, by using this application, health professionals can handle more patients at any one time and it causes the health care costs reduction for diabetes annually, and having accurate data in this way almost in real-time will help health professionals deliver better patient care. This method is recommended due to the benefits.
