The isoxazole ring is a commonly-occurring structural fragment in biologically active molecules, for example natural products such as musimol and ibotenic acid and marketed drugs (e.g valdecoxib, Bextra)[1]. Thus isoxazoles have been widely used and studied in modern drug discovery [2]. In this research, some new compounds of isoxazole family were synthesized and characterized. First, 2,4-dichlorobenzaldehyde was transformed to benzaldoxim by using NH2OH in pyridine. The in situ generated nitriloxide from reaction between 2 and NaOCl, was reacted with propargylalcohol to product [3-(2,4-Dichloro-phenyl)-isoxazol-5-yl]-methanol in a cycloaddition procedure. Then, the esterification was occurred with (3-(2,4-dichloro-phenyl)-isoxazol-5-yl)methyl butanoate4 as a new compound, The structure of all the synthesized compounds was characterized and confirmed by FT-IR and NMR spectroscopy techniques.
