Bilingualism has always been an issue for researchers as societies include individuals from different backgrounds. However, bilingualism among Azeri people could be limited to speaking and listening rather than reading or writing skills. Thus, the Azeri bilinguals know Persian language in the same way. This knowledge may affect their performance in learning grammatical points. The present study sought to investigate the possible differences of performances between Iranian bilingual (Azeri-Persian) /monolingual (Persian) learners of English in learning grammatical points. To carry out this study, the researcher selected sixty Iranian female EFL learners studying English in the language institutes in Tabriz and Qazvin provinces among two groups of Azeri-Persian bilinguals and Persian monolinguals. Then, the participants in both groups took the grammar pretest and post-tests. The treatment lasted 7 sessions. The data were collected and analyzed by running t-test and the findings revealed that monolingual and bilingual learners did not differ significantly in learning grammatical points Therefore the results did not reject the research null- hypothesis. In conclusion, bilingualism was not effective in enhancing the learning of the mentioned tense by Iranian EFL learners.
