While traditional methods of language teaching neither empower students nor indulge them in a creative way, language teachers welcome digital technology as an opportunity to access huge amount of authentic information. In this paper, we interviewed 30 Iranian EFL teachers, using 15 open-ended questions to find how they perceive digital literacy, with each interview lasting for about 30 minutes. Language teachers were conveniently selected in Qazvin. Interviews were audio recorded and were thematically analysed. The results of qualitative analysis showed that although digital technology could facilitate the process of teaching and learning, it might be disruptive to EFL classes. Further, digital technology could keep language teachers up-to-date, enabling them to keep abreast of the latest developments in teaching methodology. However, the accessibility of digital devices was the major barrier in helping language teachers to keep up with the latest developments in digital technology and, as a result, to be digitally literate.
