چكيده فارسي :
On one hand, textbooks play a crucial role on facilitating EFL students’ learning process; on the other hand, there are a vast range of books available on market. Thus, needless to say that a great thoughtful consideration on course books was required to see what merits and demerits were. In recent studies, the role of mother tongue in smoothing the curvy road of learning a foreign language was debatable. Most of researchers have claimed that the use of L1 in L2 learning is inevitable so they gave rise to publish particular books like ETP textbooks which were the first localized English book series for Persian speakers. This study, attempted to distinguish whether ETP books were appropriate enough to help Iranian EFL learners acquire English competence or not. Furthermore, it consisted of evaluating two series based on a suggested eclectic checklist which was proposed by Yusuf Demir and Abdullah Ertaş (2014), four sessions of class observation and conducting a semi-structured interview. The findings demonstrated a contrast between interviewees’ positive feedback and ETP1 2 evaluation which provided somehow insufficient results (under 60%).
