A great number of studies have been done on the role of written corrective feedback in L2 writing. However, there is a controversy around the efficiency of focused CF. The present study focused on the provision of one type of feedback, namely focused corrective feedback, in improving intermediate EFL learners’ grammatical accuracy in the short and long term. In this study 40 learners participated who were randomly assigned to two groups: a focused group and a control group. Students of the focused group received feedback on simple past tense in their writing but learners of the control group did not receive any feedback. Results indicated that the focused group outperformed the control group both in the immediate and delayed posttests. This study suggests that focused written corrective feedback can lead to L2 written development.
