Pure silica powder was extracted from bagasse. After that, ZSM-5 zeolite was synthesized by conventional hydrothermal method using this extracted silica source. Then, post-synthetic modification of ZSM-5 zeolite (Si/Al=35), was investigated by desilication using alkaline treatment (NaOH solution). Extracted silica from bagasse was characterized by X-ray fluorescence spectrometry (XRF), (Furrier Transform Infra-Red) FT-IR spectra and X-ray Diffraction (XRD). Also, ZSM-5 synthesized before and after alkaline treatment was characterized and compared with each other. Characterization of these zeolites was performed by field-emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM) and X-ray Diffraction (XRD). Surface area of ZSM-5 before and after desilication was 352 and 401 m2 g-1
