Objectives: Selenium (Se) is an essential trace element with a very narrow margin between nutrient levels of intake and toxicity. It is a biocatalyst and functional constituent of numerous enzymes, is required for suitable function of immune system and possesses the protective role against carcinogenic agents. This study aimed tocompare the effects of Nano-Selenium (NS) and Sodium Selenite (SS) on the histopathological changes in liver of rats.Materials Methods: Thirty rats were divided randomly into 3 groups. Groups 1and2were consideredasthe treatment groupsand received orally nano-selenium and sodium seleniteat a dose of1/0 mg/kg respectively. Group3was considered as control group and received no treatment. At the end of the study, rats were sacrificedand their livers were placed in formalin for histological studies. Results Conclusion: In the control group, the outer surface of liver tissue lined by a thin capsule of loose connective tissue that it splits into liver tissue and created entirely separate lobes and because of the central veins of the lobules was clear border. In the parenchyma of each of lobules, a central vein, hepatic cords and sinusoids were observed.Liver cells to form cell columns arrangedaroundthe centralvein andhepatic cords. Hepatic cords consist of two rows of hepatocytes. Hepatocytes and natural forms of capillaries withoutinflammatory cells were observed in the liver tissue. In the group 1 and2 was observed Hyperemiaand infiltration of inflammatory cells in the liver tissue, almost different sizes of hepatocytes were observed and capillaries were full of RBC
