Objectives: The use of medicinal plants for the wide impact of antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, anti- cancer and other effects in the treatment of diseases is considered. Because of the extensive side effects of chemical drugs and their residues, especially in the livestock industry the limitations of chemical drugs usage are prominent. Peritonitis is one of the most common diseases in large animals that can be caused by different causes and consequences such as reduced milk production and losses. The long-term use of Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs in the treatment of severe inflammatory conditions such as peritonitis, have adverse effects such as gastric ulcers and renal failure. Materials Methods: In this study, twenty-one cows, 3 to 7 years old which were referred to the Veterinary Clinic of the University of Zabol, after examination and laboratory findings and approved peritonitis were included in the study. Animals were randomly divided into three groups. Thus, in the control group there was no anti-inflammatory treatment, In the chamomile extract treatment group the Hydro alcoholic extract of 5% by 2 ml per 45 kg of body weight intravenously for three days and in the flunixin treatment group1.1 mg/kg of body weight flunixinmeglumine intravenously for three days in animals were used. Blood samples were collected before the start of study and up to seven days after administration of the drugs taken daily and hematological parameters and inflammatory markers were examined. The results of Results Conclusion: this study showed that chamomile extract had significant effects in reducing inflammatory markers compared to the control group (p 0.05). Anti- inflammatory effects of flunixinmeglumine in reducing inflammatory markers was greater than chamomile extract, but this was not significant. Injectable extract of Chamomile and flunixinmeglumine had no effect on hematologic parameters.
