Effect of different sizes and dose nanoparticle of zinc on some oxidative stress parameters in rats

Objectives: Zinc is one of the major elements that play a critical role in creature’s body. Deficiency of this element causes a lot of problems. Zinc is used as different medicinal compounds and food complementary. Nanoparticle of zinc is the new form of this element that is used in cosmetic and personal care products and also livestock food. This study is evaluated the effects of several sizes and doses of zinc nanoparticles on antioxidant defense system of rat.Materials Methods: Zinc nanoparticles administrated orally in 3 sizes(10, 20 and 30 nm)with 3 doses (3, 10 and 100 mg/kgbw) for 28 days among 9 experimental groups of rats(n=5) . One group used as control (n=10). After 28 days, the rat decapitated and blood serum is seperated from blood samples. Amount and activity of FRAP, TBARS, GPX and SOD as the oxidative stress biomarkers was detected. Results Conclusion:This survey shows that zinc nano particles cause induction of GPX (p≤0.05) and SOD and also increase the TBARS (p≤0.05). This assay also showed nano sized zinc causes significant decreasing in total antioxidant power of plasma (FRAP) (p≤0.001).,
